3D printing prices
A 3D print from Yannic Fréson 3D, a 3D printing service for the Heist-op-den-Berg area in Belgium, costs at least €10 per order. Weight, print time, material and number of colours set the price. Design work costs €60 per hour, billed per 15 minutes. The exact price is always quoted first; prices are final, without VAT.

Guide prices. Your final price depends on material, weight, print time and number of colours, and you always get it in a quote first. Shipping and design not included. For now, weight and print time in these examples are realistic estimates for a Bambu Lab P1S with 0.2 mm layers; they will be replaced by the figures from actual sliced files as soon as those exist.
How the price on your quote is built up
A quote from Yannic Fréson 3D adds up four things: the weight of the filament times the price per gram, the print time times the price per hour, a small margin for failed prints, and one start-up fee per order. If the sum comes to less than €10, the minimum applies. The total is rounded up.
In plain words:
- Material. The slicing software works out how many grams of filament your part uses, supports included. A hollow or thin-walled part weighs less than it looks.
- Print time. The same software estimates how long the printer will be busy. A tall, narrow part takes longer than a flat part of the same weight.
- Risk. A small margin goes on top of material and print time for prints that fail and have to be redone.
- Start-up fee. Once per order, for checking your file, slicing, preparing the build plate, finishing and packing.
Several parts in one order share the same start-up fee. If you need three parts, order them together.
Why 3D printing is charged per gram and per hour, and what goes into those rates, is explained in the guide How much does 3D printing cost in Belgium?. The reasoning is there; the rates are here.
Design work: €60 per hour
Design and modelling work at Yannic Fréson 3D costs €60 per hour. It is billed per quarter-hour started, with a minimum of half an hour per job. Design is listed separately on the quote and falls outside the quantity discount. Adding a name or short text to an existing model has a fixed, lower rate.
Design work is needed when there is no printable file, or when an existing model has to be changed. Redrawing a simple knob usually takes half an hour. What a made-to-measure design involves is on the page about 3D design on request.
What extra colours cost
At Yannic Fréson 3D extra colours cost a fixed set-up fee per extra colour and a small amount per colour change. At every change the printer purges the nozzle with fresh filament; that purge waste is weighed and charged at the normal rate per gram. So the number of changes sets the price, not the number of colours.
A name sign with white letters on a dark plate only changes colour in the top layers: a handful of changes, hardly any waste. A figurine with four colours mixed through every layer changes hundreds of times. Then the purge waste can weigh more than the object itself, and you will see that on the quote.
If the waste is a large share of the total, your quote states how many grams go into the object and how many into purging. That way you decide, figures in hand, whether the fourth colour is worth it. Often the same picture can be had with fewer changes; the three approaches are compared on the services page.
Discount on larger quantities
Yannic Fréson 3D gives a quantity discount in tiers on runs of identical parts in one order. The discount applies to material and print time, not to the start-up fee, the colour costs or the design. In the example of 50 clips in PETG, the discount is already included in the price.
The unit price drops for two reasons. The start-up fee is spread over more parts, and from the first tier the discount comes on top. The tiers are in the rate card above. More about quantities, test pieces and where injection moulding takes over is on the page about prototypes and small batches.
Fast prototype: cheaper, quicker, rougher
A fast prototype from Yannic Fréson 3D is a second tier next to the standard print, for checking shape and fit. It costs less than a standard print: print time is shorter, the start-up fee is €3 instead of €5 and the minimum order is €8 instead of €10. It is ready in 1 to 2 working days.
The saving has a cause. The part is printed on the printer's faster speed profile and handed over without finishing: supports are removed, nothing else. The 1 to 2 working days apply to a part or small set that prints within a day; larger jobs get a date in the quote. A fast prototype cannot be combined with the rush surcharge.
What you give up, and when not to choose it, is set out on the page about prototypes and small batches. The rate card above has its row.
Rush orders
A rush print is possible at Yannic Fréson 3D when the printer is free, for a surcharge on the price of the print. The normal lead time is 3 to 5 working days after your approval. The surcharge is in the rate card; whether a rush is feasible for your order is stated in your quote.
Say in your request when you need the part. A twenty-hour print does not get faster for a surcharge: the printer has only one speed. Rush means your order goes to the front of the queue. It applies to standard prints only.

Questions about the price
All frequently asked questionsWhy is there a minimum order of €10?
Because every order takes the same handling, however small the part: checking the file, slicing, preparing the build plate, finishing, packing and arranging the handover. Below €10 a job does not cover that time. You are welcome to fill the minimum with several small parts.
Is a quote free?
Yes. A quote for a print is free and without obligation. If design work is needed, the quote includes an estimate of the number of quarter-hours. The drawing itself only starts after your approval and is charged from then on.
Is VAT added to the price?
No. Yannic Fréson 3D is a small enterprise under the Belgian VAT exemption scheme, so VAT is not applicable. The price on your quote is the final price. Businesses get an invoice without VAT and therefore cannot deduct any VAT either.
Will my print be cheaper if I make it smaller or more hollow?
Yes. The price follows weight and print time. Less infill, thinner walls or a smaller scale reduce both. A model at 80% of its size weighs about half. Feel free to ask in your message for the most economical version that is still sturdy enough.
Can I work out the price of my 3D print myself?
Roughly. With the weight and print time from a slicer and the rates on this page you will get close. If you do not have a slicer, upload your file through the quote form: then it is worked out for you, with the exact figures.
